Veldblom

Veldblom is an Afrikaans artist from the Western Cape whose sound is built from the landscape around them: raw, unhurried, and deeply South African.

The name says it all: wildflower. Not cultivated, not curated. Something that grows in the kind of places people don't always look.

Their debut visual, Koelboks Beloftes, was shot by Frequency Creative in Gordon's Bay, a piece of film that captures the quiet intensity behind the music before the world has had a chance to catch up.

As the first artist on the Frequency roster, Veldblom is the template for how this house works with musicians: the film comes first, the story gets told properly, and the sound is never sanded down to travel better. Music this rooted doesn't need to be translated. It needs to be found.

And the finding has started: Koelboks Beloftes has been selected for broadcast on kykNET, Veldblom's first music video on television, and the first Frequency Creative film to reach a national audience. The wildflower is about to be seen from a lot further away.
